McCarthy's Law #75

I actually enjoy the many benefits of technology in the classroom (so much so that I'm not sure I could really go back to the traditional classroom).  THIS battle, however, is the one single issue that drives me the most insane.

On one hand, I love technology. I sit here now, taking advantage of a great creation that allows me to read your comics without ever leaving my home. However, I do feel that we rely too much on them. What happens when every book ever written is finally converted to the technology of internet and e-readers. First, the world will go "green" and recycle all those dusty classics and printed works will never exist again. Then, and this may not be in our lifetime, some major catastrophe will happen and we will lose all those digit works, the only copies we will have. Finally, go watch the movie Idiocracy. That is what our world will be. We are too linked in to our toys. However, like I said earlier, I can't live without my computer either.

I agree with you 100%, and I think about these things all the time. I also think Brave New World is a great read addressing this matter.
